I'm in the business of basement finishing. One of the business problems I had was that I had no unified look, no branding of sorts. I wanted something that would reflect what it is I do, be very professional, and highlight our high quality work. I found Len's website online and was very impressed with what I saw.

One glance at it and you know exactly what it is I do. It communicates beautifully. Now, be it known that Len didn't just sit down at his computer and crank this thing out in a few minutes. Nor did he simply send it to me and say, "here you go" and "by the way my invoice is on it's way." A lot of work and thought went into it. Much more so than I would have believed if you had asked me prior to the logo's creation. Lots of ideas were kicked around. Len doesn't quit working until he's satisfied, as well as me, the client. And like any good creative person inspiration knows no clock. I would hear stories of how, "I was in bed, and all of a sudden this great idea popped into my head—I couldn't sleep so I went to work on the project." Since the logo, Len has created my web site, killer business cards, envelopes, stationery letterhead, an absolutely awesome brochure, various DVD and CD covers, 2 catalogs, 2 books I've written and various other projects. Everyone that sees my promotional materials has been absolutely impressed with them. I get requests everyday from my web site from persons looking to have their basements finished. DataForce has sponsored the DevCon West conference for several years running. The first two years we just threw together our own promo. I say “threw together” because that’s how it looked, but actually we invested many valuable hours fiddling and wondering and arguing. Within 48 hours of hiring Design Strategies, Inc. for this year’s promo piece I wa sure that I will never do another promo piece myself. Why waste time and effort for a home-brew looking piece when I can get professional work, pay for it out of increased sales, and get to work with a great guy. The mailer you wrote and designed for us was sent out to our mailing list about two weeks ago. As a result we have already made 55 ticket sales and have never had this many sold this far in advance of the conference. Normally the majority of sales occur within the last 3 weeks before each conference. Obviously, the mailer is working very well and we expect a large turnout this year. Our call-in staff uses it as a reference point when talking to customers, as the information has been arranged in such a way as to make the programmer want more, which pulls him right into the conference. I wanted to let you know how things are going with us and the positive effects that your design work has had on our sales lines. We have been in the Personal Computer business (Diagnostic Software) now for more than three years and we have tried just about every form of print advertising available—magazine inserts, space advertising, card decks, direct mail, flyers, etc. etc. We had you do an ad for us a few years ago that advertises our repair tool kits. I had you do this in different sizes, configuarations, and colors to suit whatever we needed for our many varied applications. We also had other ads that we have usded from other sources than DSI but, I must say, those ads you did have been, and continue to be, our strongest pulling message so far. I have found your ads to be high toned in design, appropriate to our market, with a clear and concise message and very easy to read. I have been approached by different publications from time to time with questions like "Isn’t it time you changed that ad you’ve been running with us for so long?" and my only response has been "Why change somethign that continues to pull?"
